[at-l] side trails
True. However, the Tuscarora is a true side trail in that it begins and ends
at the AT, rather than just being an intersecting trail or spur. I could be
wrong, but I think it is the Tuscarora is one of the few longish trails that
does that. True, there are other intercepting trails that can be linked to
make a loop. I am working on one now, which one day may (when linked to
existing and/or planned trails) provide a loop from the AT just south of
Harrisburg PA to the AT at Pearisburg VA.
I suspect that much of the Northern half of the AT has many many miles of such
trails, as they tend to abound where ever the AT crosses any large government
owned park or forest land. I don't know NY and NJ all that well, but I am
sure you are right. PA has some major intersecting and spur trails. The one
that I expected someone to mention in the North was the IAT.
Maybe, the ATC could put together a database, site rather like the PATC site
of all trails in its vicinity.

Perhaps in the south, but in NY the Long Path is 350 miles and VT's Long
Trail is 270.

A good way to find old Trail friends is to attend the ALDHA Gathering. MAny
'class years' try to sit together during the opening night festivities. This
year's is at Dartmouth again, with camping at Storrs Pond starting Friday
October 7th.
ORR, if you can find that yearbook, can we make a copy for the AT Museum?

I have missed the last couple of Gatherings but plan to be in Hanover this
year.
If I relocate the '86 yearbook the museum can have it if they make me a paper
or electronic copy. Who should I contact?
