Reference your post, dated 03-22-05, advising ?(I)f I spend over $450 and it 
still doesn't pass I can skate though another year  ...  I don't see a way 
to repair part of the transmission without fixing the whole thing.?

Drive your car to Virginia.  I?m fairly sure I can find a guy who will 
charge you $6.00 for parts plus $445.00 labor to take care of that $3,000.00 
bulb.
