[at-l] Bad batch of Alcohol Fuel

Many years ago (long before they started putting ethanal in gas) I threw a
can of dry gas in my car and almost killed the car. The bottle of dry gas
had been left over from the winter before. Alcohol is hydrophilic (sp?) -
that is it wants to combine with water - which is why it's used as dry gas.
I think my problem was that the dry gas had already combined with water
from sitting around. This might have been the problem he was having with
the alcohol if it had been on the shelf for a long time. So I guess the
question was if his yellow flame and sooting was accompanied with high heat
output (acetone, etc), or low heat output (water). Either way not good, but
the high heat problem could be significantly worse (Ka-Boom!).
Yet another good reason to check even the simple things over before hitting
the trail...
