Matt,
This is a good season to buy winter wear in  the northern plains.  Maybe 
the same is true in your location.  Hunting season is over and WalMart, 
Target, etc have good sales on wicking long-johns, etc.  The local 
sports wear shops also are having sales--Patagonia etc.  Go to the 
basics--wicking next to the skin, covered by a layer of insulation and 
protected by a shell of wind/water repelling clothing.
