[at-l] Forgetting of All Sorts

I am amazed by how many folk in the hiking community report childhood memory
block-outs -- myself included.

I wonder if there is any correlation between the need-to-hike and ???? Is
hiking driven by something, or is it fulfilling a need brought on by????

Or OTOH, is this observation misleading -- just caused because we talk about
things among ourselves, which in other settings we (and others) hold much
closer to the vest? So, is childhood memory block-out really common across
most of the population, just not talked about? If so, what is it about this
virtual campfire, as well as the bull-sessions after supper on a trail work
crew and at a shelter on the trail, which brings on the openness?

Hey OB, where are you?

I have what you would call a very much regretful forgetfulness. My Mom died
when I was 10 (lung cancer) and I can't remember much about her, or for that
matter, my life before the age of 12. I hate it!
