I just replaced my old & beat-up 3.0 Olympus Camedia with a 4.0 version with 
a 3x optical zoom version called the Olympus D-580 Zoom. It's not itty bitty, 
just small. I like the sliding door over the lens, that it takes regular AA 
batteries, has easy menus, and multiple shooting modes. Inexpensive for a 4.0 
with an optical zoom, from BJ's $199 after a rebate. You'll want a bigger memory 
card than it comes with, costing an extra $40-50.
