[at-l] Cell Phones -- Perception

The point I was TRYING to make is that sometimes people (and governments) take things to extremes. But in this lawsuit-happy country, someone might decide to SUE the government for not making the trail safer...truth being stranger than fiction, an' all. However, the truth is, the AMC was required to make one of their huts compliant when they rebuilt it...

FWIW. His statement simply isn't true. The Act specifically exempts wild trails. Of course we may so civilize the AT that the exemption no longer applies.

Uh-huh, right. That's how it begins; where does it END?!

Don't bother answering, 'cause YOU don't know, either...

The law exempts trails. It does not exempt buildings being reconstructed on public lands. AMC was a victim of federal bureauocracy nitpicking.

Weary

If the Act exempts wild trails, what was all that exercise about several years ago when they made a shelter wheel-chair friendly? That was very costly. Was it for naught? has anyone except the one publicity case tried getting there and using it? anklebearFrom s.landis at comcast.net Tue Jan 25 06:32:59 2005
