Hi to all. I have just sent off my space reservation for our Trail Days
booth and wanted to let you know the 2005 Just-Add-Hiker donation drive is
now up and running.
Last year, Mike Eglin was the happy camper who won and was thru-hiking the
CDT when we got word to him. His gear was dropped off at his Mom's house in
the Greensboro area on our way back from Trail Days and we dropped-shipped
some needed items to him on the trail.
This year we will have 3 winners. I expect more gear to be added to the
pile but we certainly have a respectable start. The intention is, of
course, to generate new memberships and/or donations to the trail
organizations that we support. Last year was the first year we tried this
and there were 108 1st time memberships and donations made as a result.
I'll take that as a good starter but know this year can and will be much
better. If you are a gear manufacturer and would like to donate your gear
to the cause and receive recognition and an overall warm-fuzzy feeling
knowing you are doing some real good, please email me at
tinman@antigravitygear.com.
The drawing will be at 5 pm on Saturday May 14th at our booth at Trail Days
and you don't have to buy any gear from anybody or be present to win.
The gear prizes so far ( and these are minimums):
3rd place: a set of AT Mapdanas. ($50) and a Tin Man alcohol stove. ($12)
2nd place: an Open Country Dehydrator ($80) and a set of AT Mapdanas ($50)
and a Tin Man alcohol stove. ($12)
1st place: An Open Country Dehydrator, Thompson Peak 10.5 oz backpack and a
13 oz summer sleeping quilt from Fanatic Fringe. A mama's Kitchen Deluxe
Hard Anodized cookset, extra stove, Princeton Tec Scout Headlamp, 2 LEDs,
2000 Miles To Maine DVD, stove making DVD, CDs by Tacoma Ted and Dutch
Treat, Dehydrator books, meals from Enertia Trail Foods, SilNylon Tent,
Survival bandana and hiker-to town/trail bandana set of AT Mapdanas and as
much other gear as we can find to toss on the pile. I haven't added the
prize totals up but last year the total was over $700, and this year the 1st
prize should be well over $800. This year is going to be great!
