[at-l] Osprey Aether 60

I have been using an Aether 60 for about 3 years, including two 2-week
sections and a bunch of weekend hikes. I like it up to about 35 pounds, then
the hip belt starts to twist and it just doesn't have the support I need.
But it's a nice pack -- it was my first review on BackpackGearTest. (There
are several others, too.)
I wasn't really paying attention to the beginning of this thread, but was
the original poster female? Osprey makes a women's version of this pack, the
Ariel 60, which has a narrower back panel. You also might be able to find a
deal on a small or medium Gregory Z-Pack, which is a similar style of pack
at a similar weight. My wife and daughter have tried both, and much prefer
the Gregory.
Don't know about back pain, but if the pack doesn't fit properly, that could
certainly be one cause. I do like the Aether as a LD hiker's pack (good
support for the weight) -- you might want to take it to a good outfitter and
see if they will make sure it fits you properly. Good luck.
