As long as you aren't confusing mellow and centered with complacent. The
article deals with the fact (not belief) that evangelical Christians aren't
any better at living the lives their beliefs would have them live than
anyone else. Yes, it is a trick of the mind. I've been there (and other
places) and been brought up short by reality checks (ones I believe were
divinely instigated but I could be wrong) and now I question things. That's
not negative. It just means I'm still looking and listening instead of
latching onto something because it makes me feel good about where I already
am. Humility? Yes, indeed I can think of many places a bit of humility
would be a good ingredient.
