[at-l] Big Island (Hawaii) hike

Whilst vacationing on the Big Island, I did a lot of caving (spelunking to those NOT "in the know") and a bit of snorkeling...but managed to get in a day hike above the Waipio Valley along the Upper Hamakua Ditch.
Said "ditch" is an aqueduct which collects runoff for the town of Waimea, and the maintenance trail for it is quite scenic; we hiked about 3 miles from the trailhead and back on December 29th.

It was a muddy, slippery hike, so caution was the order of the day.
(I still managed to slip a few times...)
