[at-l] digital cameras - some quick thoughts

The parallax error is always in the direction the viewfinder is from the 
lens. It works just like the parallax between you eyes. It is not a problem 
except when the subject is closer than 5-6 feet, sometimes less depending 
on how far apart the lens and viewfinder are relative to the focal length. 
Try some practice shots at home to learn the distance where it becomes a 
problem and save your use of the screen for shots closer than that distance.

Digital zoom is a waste of money. All it does is crop the image. You can do 
that after the fact. Only optical zoom actually gives you magnification at 
the same resolution and remember that extreme telephoto requires higher 
shutter speed because camera movement is magnified along with the image.
