Does anybody have a good handle on how much the food a thru-hiker carries
weighs?
I am attempting to arrive at what the weight is of one days worth of food,
including snacks.
I recently quoted the answer as 2 1/2 to 3 pounds. Although I am not sure I
think that answer came from a discussion on the list and was a derived
number based on calories burned on average and the amount of food it would
take to meet the demand.
Does anyone remember this discussion?
and more to the point,
Does anyone know how much one days worth of food would weigh?

In hiking there is no special recognition given for speed, style,
or finesse. There are only those who do the hike and those who don't.
