Subject: [at-l] Trip Report

As some of you may now I am a chemist working for the US
Government. I would tell you which agency, but then I would
have to kill you. Anyhow another government agency inspected
our building and discovered that we were not wearing safety
glasses in our labs, so eveeryone had to get glass. Will
mine came in today at the local optican's office, so over the
lunch hour I took a walk to pick them up.

I thought that I was well prepared for the hike as I has on
my Asolo trail boots and an LL Bean jacket. I left the front
door and took a leasurely walk down Mermaid Lane (I Kid you
Not!) to Germantown Avenue. This is were Washington meet the
German Mercenaries. I hung a right on Germantown avenue,
while admiring the old Belgium blocks use to pave the avenue
and headed towards Chestnut Hill. A slow steady climb and I
was on top of the Hill (elevation change 50 ft)and realized
that I was in trouble, I did not bring any water.
Fortunately I was in front of a coffee shop and got an extra
large, extra dark roast, double the caffiene, double the
sugar coffee. Refreshed and re-energized I descended
Chestnut Hill and arrive at the Opticians safely. After
picking up my glasses I realized that I would have to return
the same direction that I came as there was not an obvious
loop. About halfway back I realized my second error. I did
not bring any snacks, but fortunately I was at Backer Street
Bakery and I purchased a loaf of Apple Cider Raisin Bread.
They also had coffee so I took a second break before
returning to the lab were I picked up a third cup of coffee
and proceeded to share the bread with friends. It was a
beautiful day for a hike, cool, cloudy, a little breeze.
Total miles 2.5 miles.
