practice, in the game, in the classroom and on- and off-campus."

In 1971 he was appointed to a 31-member statewide drug task force

An avid hiker, he was a life member and 2,000-miler of the Appalachian
Trail Conference and an honorary life member of the Appalachian Long
Distance Hikers Association. He was also an honorary life member of the
Nature Conservancy.

He was an accomplished photographer and traveled extensively, visiting
three-quarters of the counties in the United States.

He was the son of the late Clarence Read and Sallie Wilson Lacy.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Sallie Wilson
