[at-l] Hiker on Dateline

Shane, why wouldn't you do such a story...and why would you be embarrassed?
Do you think he did some stupid things? Hmmm... Ya know though, sometimes
when people do these kinds of shows, it helps others to see the mistakes
that he made and could prevent us from doing the same thing and ending up in
the same situation. I'd rather pass along my errors so that others may
learn from them and be safe than hide my head in the sand.

Our mistakes are our greatest teachers...if only we learn from them.

I think that he did make some tactical errors. He was hiking alone in the
backcountry...not always a wise thing to do. However, he had done that many
times before without issue. How many times have we all been out alone?

The boulder shifted and it caught his arm. Could that have been prevented?
Is there anything that he could have done differently? I don't know. I
watched him on the Jay Leno show and I'm not sure if it was anything more
that just one of those bizarre happenings.

What I want to know is...is his arm still out there under that boulder?
Now, don't get onto me for being gross...I just wonder what people do in
this situation. Would you want it recovered? What happens then? Would you
have a burial for it? Wonder what the tombstone would read? "Here lies his
arm...rest of the body to follow later."??? Hmmmm....inquiring minds want
to know.
