But don't you see the pattern????

People don't STOP having children in order to stabilize or reduce the population.  They stop having children in order to have more money readily available to purchase more items sooner.  It's not about population, it's about consumption.

Conspicuous Consumption.

Now I'll make people angry at me.  I honestly believe if people who have intelligence do not breed enough offspring, those people with reduced intelligence will be the ones running the country and deciding who lives and who gets put out on an ice flow.

Maybe we already have that (I heard your thoughts!).
