Reminds me of the time Stoat was hikin' south...got to Maine
Junction...took a right and hiked for a couple of miles. He ran into
some folx and got to talkin' with 'em. They asked where he was headed
and he said "Georgia". They laffed and said "No, really." He said
really....they told him that he was headed north. He disputed. They had
to show him on a map that he was, in fact, heading north. When he got to
the Inn at the Long Trail...several hours late...I asked him if he saw
the sign at Maine Junction...."I saw it. I just didn't read it". Later
that same hike...late one evening just north of Ironmasters...he
crossed a bridge and decided to get water before it got dark. In an
effort to keep his jacket from getting wet, he took it off and hung it
on a sign...that read "Do not drink water from Tagg Run"...he read it
when he was done getting water, though.
