Chiggers - the microbug from HELL! I do fine with poison ivey, ticks
don't bother me that much, but chiggers are the WORST! I usually do
very well with prevention, whether it be the old sulfur home remedy, or
just some sprayed on DEET on shoes, lower pants, other clothing
openings, etc. However, when I DO get the little dastardly things, I
scratch and itch for WEEKS! I gladly would participate in a worldwide
genocidal effort against the little varmits - where do I sign up? :)
Re the OT discussion of presidential politics, I just have to offer a
couple of painful comments. I have wrestled personally for WEEKS now
with trying to find "the truth" re both Kerry and Bush when it comes to
their personal decisions and experiences with military service. My
conclusions so far: (1) despite all the prolific growth in the
internet and alternative media outlets, it is getting harder to find
"the truth;" (2) I don't know what "the truth" means anyway; (3) the
level of vitriol on all sides is the worst I have ever seen; and (4) -
while I cannot give a very rational reason why I come down this way, I
think I have decided that I would rather elect a new fraud who at least
served than continue with the present fraud who did not, and who -
regardless of whether anyone lied or misled or not - must be the guy
where the "buck stops' re thie present dirty little wars in far away
places. Please feel free to e-mail me off list (and recall I will be
gleefully escaping into the woods from 8/14-8/28), but don't continue
this on-list . . . and, as I said, I can't figure out how to defend my
conclusions anyway! :)
