[at-l] Yosemite Firefall

Much as I deny it, I really must be getting old.

I saw the Yosemite firefall (and it really was coals, not gasoline in the water)in the very early 50's. My Dad was on active duty during the Korean War; we were living in a trailer park edged with fields of Burpee Seed Co fragrant sweet peas in Lompoc, CA. My parents took us to Yosemite, where I promptly got horrible tonsillitis and was put to bed in our room at the lodge. I got so bad, they hustled out of the park to get me to a doctor, but not before my Mom took me to see the firefall.

The firefall was, in retrospect, a pretty dumb idea. There are still stains on the rock wall where the coals fell for so many years, but I have to admit it was a pretty spectacular sight to a fevered four-year-old.
