In serious drought conditions, yes.  IMHO.  All this really applies to 
environments
where resources are limited.  If you're in the biggest berry patch 
ever, I think you can
eat until your hands turn blue (and your cheeks, and your teeth, and..) 
  but if there's
two bushes by the side of the trail, it should be left for those who 
really need it.
