[at-l] It's 11:30 PM, do you know where you are?

I nearly did a really dumb-funny thing, but I caught myself and went over to www.backpackgeartest.org and read reviews and realized I don't need another backpack. Well, maybe an upgrade of the one I have.

I picked up a prototype of the Thompson Peak from Fanatic Fringe at the Southern Ruck. (no side compression straps) No waist belt, either. It carries well and I haven't felt the need for a belt the times I used it backpacking.

For some unexplained gearhead reason, I felt as if I should buy another pack. Anyway, reading the reviews of the packs I was interested in and then reading the reviews of the Thompson Peak (over on backpackgeartest) has settled me down and I won't do that dumb-funny thing after all.

Anyone else have a similar story to tell?

We also kayak, so we're 'deep' thinkers, too.
