MILLINOCKET (AP) -- For the second time this month, Gov. Baldacci will visit
a northern Maine paper mill to greet workers who are returning to their jobs
after an extended layoff.Baldacci will be at Katahdin Paper in
Millinocket?Wednesday afternoon. The mill, idle for more than a year as its former owner
tumbled into bankruptcy, is restarting its Number-Eleven paper machine. The
start-up will put 125 workers back on the job.The machine, which makes
supercalendered paper for magazines and catalogs, was refurbished less than three years ago
by the mill's former owners.Earlier this month, Baldacci was in Lincoln to
greet workers at that town's paper mill that was reopened by its new buyer after
a long shutdown due to bankruptcy.
