[at-l] dog food

You may want to join the Yahoo Group: TrailDog They also have a file with their brochure which you can copy. It's VERY good and would be something you might want to leave at shelters for other trail dog owners to read.

Feed PUPPY kibble (and not Kibbles and Bits the "twinkies" of dog food) because it has more fat in it. Diamond Brand is a VERY good (no corn, no soy) and inexpensive kibble. It uses real meat-meal as its first ingredient. (A friend who used to raise AKC Collies fed this to her dogs, some of whom were dog show champions.)

That low-water packed tuna, salmon, chicken and hamburger are good to give the dog, in addition to the kibble.

Pack the kibble in ziplocs so that it doesn't get moist and start to ferment/mold. Can cause doggie gastroinstestinal distress.

A dog or a ferret with gastrointestinal distress is not a pretty picture. Apologies to those who are eating as they read this.
