[at-l] Pack weight
I first read it in Backpacker, but I don't know its origins before that. In 1989, when I started hiking, 1/4 to 1/3 of your body weight was standard. anklebear

25% of my weight when I started my AT hike would have been 54 pounds.
I thought the 36 I carried was too much.
25%... It's rule of thumb... And a fat thumb at that...
