Paul, If you want to hear about rain, rain, and more rain and how the
thru-hikers handle it, go to trailjournals.com and read some of the journals
from 2003.  Check out Jan Liteshoe, or Wench, or Hotdog's journals and you
will soon see that you just have to keep walking if you want to make it all
the way.  Of course, they did take off a day now and then to dry out, but
then usually went back to the trail only to get soaking wet again.  It was a
very wet year.  The journals give a pretty good picture of how tired they
got of it, and how hard it was to handle mentally, day after day after day.
