Dependent on whom?  I have never in my life shopped at a Wal-Mart.  K-Mart, 
sure, and most of the big department stores in NYC.  We don't have a Wal-Mart 
here.  I did get my Blue Pad (closed cell foam) at Target.  Campmor has a 
Website that is useful for hikers.  

So, no one is dependent on any one store.

But we have choices!
