[at-l] Ohhhhh . . .

<<I am sitting in the Side Track, and the music and general tenor behind is
increasing from boisterous to near riotous.>>

Thus writes Ponderer in response to my guestbook post thanking him for such
meticulous detail about the trail in his journal writings. And then he slams
me with this! That's what I get for liking meticulous detail about the trail.

So, for all of the rest of you who aren't at Trail Days, Howdy! I'm getting
enough of the trail-type stuff right here at home though almost to placate my
sorrow about not being in Damascus. It snowed a foot in the past two days at
my house. Now, the forty degree temps have melted that away sufficiently for
me to enjoy the contrast between the fresh snow and the beautiful green grass
beneath it.

Wildlife has been sufficient too. My dogs had the audacity to bark and lunge
at a coyote who got too close to "their" yard this afternoon. Happily, the
Invisible Fence worked because I would not want to know the outcome otherwise.

And right now I have a herd of elk in "their" yard. They haven't uttered a
peep since I've kept it a secret from them.

Sunday morning Dr. Schuller will have a mountain lion attack survivor
speaking at his service. That takes care of the mountain lion presence for the
weekend.

Next year, folks, I'm going to be at Trail Days. In October I'm going to be
at the Gathering. March 5, 2005, I'm going to be at Springer Mountain.
Thirty years in the mountains of Colorado have been awesome, but they were also
thirty years of wanting to be on the AT. I'm putting the house on the market the
first week of June, and I hope it goes fast. Then I'm off to Virginia.
