[at-l] Blackflies in White Mtns. and Maine

I live in Pinkham Notch, about 5 miles from the AT.  Today was the first 
day that the black flies were starting to get bad.  Not a big problem 
yet, but enough to irritate me and get me inside a bit earlier than I 
might otherwise have done.  But not bad enough to get me into DEET or 
headnet yet.  I suspect that the next few days will see them increasing.

It helped that I was hanging around with a man that the flies evidently 
thought was more tasty than I was.  Don't you just love bringing along 
your own sacrificial victim??  hehe
