For those who have inquired, I hadn't heard from him, so I checked with his 
friend at home.  He was just about to arrive back in NYC by train.  Later, he 
called.  His knee blew out in some way after Sassafras, followed by Justus, and 
on down to Woody Gap, where he was picked up.  He will be seeing his doc 
there on Monday and hopes/plans to be back on the trail in three weeks or so.
