I've carried it in the G4 for a couple years so it *can* be done.

One problem with the Garcia, if that's what you got, is the smallish opening. 
Both the new Bear Vault (about the same price) and the Bearikade (lots more) 
have a full size opening and also a truer cylindrical shape, vs the barrel 
shape of the Garcia. Supposedly this lets you fit more in there. It's still 
tight, save room for your garbage bag too.

Think tortillas :-)
