Amputee puts bionic leg to test on Appalachian Trail

By Duncan Mansfield
The Associated Press

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. -- A hiker with a battery-powered, bionic leg has set out
to become the first amputee to walk the entire Appalachian Trail, a
2,168-mile trek from Georgia to Maine.
*************

This is the hiker I saw at Woody Gap Last Thursday. His wife stopped by to
resupply him. He was hiking with a deaf friend, and his young daughter
"cricket" with a full pack). He was doing great!
I understand that he will be the second amputee, to do the hike if he
succeeds,
not the first as he once thought. Either way, it's amazing.
