[at-l] Enhancing the AT Blaze





            After re-reading this thread, the hailing of the perils of 
"tradition" doesn't really apply to this subject. The main reason the white blaze is 
traditional is because it is easy to standardize. Each club along the 2000 
mile trail can easily access bright white paint. This is a prime example of 
"keep it simple stupid". 

          The white blaze should be adequate for guidance in low light 
conditions. "Traditionalism" should be applied more in the conservation area of the 
Trail's self-description where it has the best chance of doing more good...
