Okay, here's the skinny:  There seem to be two sides.  One thinks 'take' the other thinks 'don't take' -- what about the middle?  Well, it's not a 'side' if it's the middle, but besides all that. . .  (Is besides a side?)

Don't ask, don't tell.  That's the middle-side.  HYOH.  My cell phone weighs a few ounces, my recharger a few more.  If **I** choose to carry my cell phone, you can be really sure that you will NEVER find out about it.  

What kind of a backpacker hikes around and says "I'm carrying a Cell Phone.  Wanna make something of it?"  No one I know.  Oh, maybe the Yuppie-Hikers, but they need the cell phone to call whoever it is that Yuppies call.

Unless you spend the night with me in the same motel room, you'll never find out if I did or if I didn't bring my cell phone.  And the odds of your spending the night in my motell room are somewhere between "nil" and "nada" -- LOL.
