   I'm not terribly in shape, and Katahdin scares me for a first
attempt.  I also have a hiking partner for the first 10 days or so that
has a deadline for when he has to be off the trail, so we need to make
it to Monson by June 18th.  Since neither of us has ever hiked long
distance before, I thought it more prudent to save Katahdin for when I'm
more experienced.
