[at-l] RE: Emergency Kit.

Steve, I spoke/wrote too strongly. An "on person first
aid kit" is a very personal choice item. I like your
choices. It is incomplete and redundant, based on your
hunches of what is essential - fire being among them.
This is the right kit for you.

I get a bit anxious with those who would cut weight
excessively to demonstrate "how small can one go." But
the effort to reconsider gear is part of gaining
experience and confidence. Lee I Joe's story is real
world, as Shane has also recounted.

Personally, I carry less fire stuff, add a Jolly
Rancher if warm weather, a baggie of Jello powder if
cold. I also carry a condom. It makes a great water
carrier, plus a broken condom always gets attention. I
suspect the silnylon bag would work also if seam
sealed, but wouldn't carry the same amount of water.
