[at-l] Re: Maine Appalachian Trail Land Trust

I've still got the brochure "Weary" sent me; I was thinking of throwing a little money their way whenever I get my tax refund...

Many thanks Ryan and Coosa for the suggestion. The Maine Appalachian Trail Land
Trust needs all the help it can get to complete the protection of Abraham, a
superb mountain, and a critical part of one of the wildest and most beautiful
sections of the entire Appalachian Trail system.

ABRAHAM (often pronounced A-brum) is one of Maine's great mountains: second
only to Katahdin in exposed ridgeline, important habitat for the rare Bicknell's
thrush, home of lapland diapensia, dwarf white birch, legendary crops of
mountain cranberry, and one of the best side trips on the entire 2,170-mile
Appalachian Trail. But despite valiant efforts by the Appalachian Trail
Conference, Abraham's four-mile ridgeline remains unprotected. Your help will
keep this 4,049 foot peak forever wild.

The above is from the brochure I've been writing. I'll send some other sections
as they get completed. As soon as I figure out how to do it, I'll even post
some photos.

  Our land trust address is:

Abraham Project, MATLT, PO Box 325, Yarmouth, ME 04096. If you decide to
contribute, put "AT-L Community" on the check or in a separate note.
