"Preliminary approval of a $14 million driving course for high-end 
sports cars, to be built in rural Eldred Township, was upheld Wednesday 
by a Monroe County judge.

Judge Ronald Vican affirmed the decision made in October by township 
supervisors to grant preliminary approval to Alpine Rose resort 
developer Richard Muller Jr. of Berks County.

Vican determined that Alpine Rose developers sufficiently showed with 
expert testimony that the development would not create an excess of 
traffic or an abundance of air pollution, as charged by the Blue 
Mountain Preservation Association and the Appalachian Trail Conference, 
the organizations that twice appealed preliminary approval of the resort."
