Sly -
The problem wasn't so much "loss" of eyesight as "too much" eyesight. I
woke up one morning and saw two closet doors. There's only one closet. And
only one door. Both eyes still operate just fine - separately. They just
don't operate together when I look down. Makes reading a little difficult -
among other things. And it's damned scary when you're not a horse and you
look down and see 4 feet. So how DO you make all those appendages do what
you want? <VBG>
Already been "got" by the branches and briars, but I'm learning. The real
bitch kitty, though, is the lack of depth perception cause you're wearing an
eye patch on one eye - with the addition of snow glare in the good eye -
while you're trying to walk on solid ice. But we didn't have all that mess
last Sunday cause most of the snow was gone where we were hiking, so we did
the circuit at 3 mph (our normal speed/time for that particular circuit).
So Toey is right - I will hike again. Probably also helped that the eye is
getting incrementally better - the words were "spontaneous recovery, but
it'll take time - a long time." So what's the definition of "a long time"?
No definite answers for that, but the best estimate I got was at least a
couple-three months. This is NOT something that's never been seen before -
it's been documented in the medical literature for at least 300 years. And
they still don't have answers. But they sure do have a lot of tests. I got
to work this morning and felt lonely cause I don't have any tests or doctors
appointments to go to today. The insurance company's gonna just love the
bills that come out of this one. <G>
Anyway - I've also gotta say a public "Thank You" to all those who expressed
concern, both publicly and privately. It is appreciated. It reminds me of
what at-l was meant to be and what it used to be like.
Y'all have a good day,
Jim
