I would start with Yosemite Valley. It is @ 4000 fet high; Tuolumne Meadows
is over 8500 feet high.

But I agree with Sly - this is on of the most spectacular hikes in the US.
Other great hikes in the west include the Wind Rivers from Green River
trailhead to Big Sandy in Wyoming. Also Glacier Natl Park - anywhere. And
don't forget the Colorado Trail from Denver to Durango.
