I can do this.... I use to skate in competition, and falling was one of the
first things you learned... Especially if you were part of a couple, and were
getting tossed and slung willy nilly all the time.
First, you have to overcome some of the natural reactions your body has to
falling, such as becoming stiff, extending your arm, holding your breath, etc.
Whatever you do, DO NOT try and break the fall with your arm or hands. That's
the best way to break your arm or wrist. Falling on your ass will result
(unless you gotta lot of extra padding) in a pelvic fracture. You should try and
roll the best you can, so your entire body absorbs the fall, not just one
part. Of course, all of this is easier said than done. I'd suggest some
practice... And call me when you do.... I'll bring my video camera... You know, for
teaching purposes... (snicker snicker!)
