The only thing I'd add is that anklebear's original statement ("once the slide begins, you're in it until something else stops you.") isn't something that's universally true.<

I guess not, because I wasn't the one that said that!  I don't know how I got attached to it.  We don't drive in ice, as a rule, in southern VA.  We have sense enough to stay home, especially when the governor of NC, right across the line, tells us to stay home.  <G>  (We listen to WUNC, Chapel Hill.)
