Not at 40. That requires 32 F. Unless you grow a farm field of the things, just
throw an old blanket, or even your backpacking tarp over them, (you have one
don't you) and they will survive most things that southern Florida is apt to
produce for weather.

 I try to keep at least a couple of plants growing until mid October, or later,
 by which time I usually have had several killing frosts.
