But, what is there to think about? What deep thoughts do you need, or
want, that aren't there? Why can't you think about things while you're
hiking? It's just walking.
No it's not.... It is definitely not "just walking". My family even pointed
this out to me
after they hiked with me.They thought it would be "just walking", and
realized it was
a constant "watch where you put your feet" kind of thing, and not walking at
all.
I was constantly focused on the trail & missed much around me, unless I
stopped
to look. And if I tried to think, or look while I was walking & didn't stay
focused,
I ate dirt. Ask Wench, we constantly said, "stop, look & listen".. IN THAT
ORDER...
Wench could tell when I was looking around or thinking, she could hear me
trip, fall,
slip, slide, stumble, and so on... I was amazed at how much I had to
concentrate on
what I was doing as I hiked. I tried to think and walk, but after the first
face plant
into the roots (and the subsequent roll off the trail & into a ditch), I
thought better of it.
