One way to put people in their place (on a shelf, and ignored) is to put a
label on those whose ideas are different or whose experience runs counter to
what was the norm in the past. For years the rule was low fat and now Atkins
comes along (he wasn't the first and he is not the last) and it is proven that a
high protein, high fat, low carbohydrate is beneficial in causing weight loss
as well as making a difference in cholesterol count, increasing the HDL while
lowering LDL. New information is difficult for some to absorb.

For many years America has seen a rise in the obesity level of its people.
The more people bought low-fat the more they gained. For several years now --
enough time so that the commercial industry has started addressing their
products to match the phenomenon -- people have been seeing the changes wrought by
those who lowered their carb intake and word has spread to the point that now
there are many eating plans which promote low carb eating.

So, Skylander has chosen to eat low carbs and eat the good stuff of life,
for now. It is a lifetime eating plan (not a quickie diet though it would work
for someone who has to lose a few pounds quickly for a reunion or party
appearance). The Atkins program has the Induction phase which is the most
restrictive and causes quick weight loss but there are levels which allow more carbs and
help people maintain their proper weight.

If something works, why fight it? Join the program if you need to lose. If
you don't then don't knock what works for others.
