Kelly Whitman wonders if Benadryl skin cremes will relieve the itch of
black fly bites.
Black flies do more than just leave a bite. They take a chunk of you. You
deal with the nasty of black fly saliva, bacteria, your sweat, your blood
and more. Benadryl will help only with the purely allergic part of the
injury / inflammation. Long sleeves, long pant legs and netting help
prevent, along with DEET over any somewhat exposed skin. It is easiest to
get coverage with 30% with less DEET in the eyes. The stuff is safe, and
helps protect you from ticks, mosquitos and other deadly critters.
Go for prevention with clothing and DEET. After the fact, I'd prolly try
sumothat Neosporin, Bag Balm, diaper creme or the like.
