### This sounds like an unfortunate irritation of the local
tendons -- unfortunate because of how yours just happen to be
situated vis-a-vis the internal padding/pressure points of the
boots. I once had a pair of running shoes that, simply from the
ankle closure, produced a golfball of swelling atop the "front"
of my ankle. Felt like the slowest bee sting in the world. Lost
the shoes, lost the problem.
--> I'd try another pair of shoes, or soak these puppies and
wear/walk 'em dry, and see if theres' not a bit of break-in left
that you might harvest to your benefit.
