Speaking of fireflies & Pennsylvania, I had my trail epiphany while walking the Cumberland Valley on a brutally hot day in June of 2000.  It involved monarch butterflies, billions of ripe mullberries, fireflies, and a smell of honeysuckle so strong, that it picked me up and carried me for about 3 miles.  
 
That valley walk was one of my very favorite stretches along the trail.  At some point, I plan to spend a week at Scott Farm giving back to the trail in that area.
