My hiker, who was from south Florida at the time, started his 2000 NB thru in earliest January. Bad move. Said he couldn't possibly carry or wear any more fleece.

Good thought Sly, I remember thinking that I was going to freeze to death one night/morning in Slaughter Gap (Blood Mountain) in Georgia in early March. It was 14 degrees and I had on every stitch of clothing that I had.

When was your start date again? If you sleep **VERY** cold, you probably
shouldn't start anytime before April, unless you're willing to carry a FEW extra
lbs. You'll still have six months to finish by October.
