[at-l] Intro to Thruhiking the AT

Since you mentioned REI - Marica and I will be giving presentations on
Hiking the Triple Crown at REI Fremont, CA - 7 pm, Tuesday, February 10 and
Concord, CA - 7 pm, Tuesday, February 24. I like Laurie's pace better - 2
sessions for 2150 miles. Ours is 1 session for 8000 miles. We will miss
lots.

Here is the "blurb" that is going in the Bay Area's REI Newsletter:
In September 2003 veteran backpackers Ken and Marcia Powers completed their
dream of hiking the Triple Crown of U.S. long distance trails-the Pacific
Crest Trail, the Continental Divide Trail and the Appalachian Trail. In
tonight's slide presentation Ken and Marcia will share highlights of their
nearly 8,000-mile endeavor, in which they spent a total of 15 months on the
trail in the span of three-and-a-half years. Come find out about the unique
characteristics of each of these national trails, what it takes to plan an
enjoyable five-month backpacking adventure and how to pare down your load to
a safe and comfortable minimum.
